Our job can be a joy and a privilege. It generally attracts people who are empathetic, kind and generous. However, research has indicated that around 48% of therapists report feeling emotionally exhausted, and many experience burnout.

Why? I believe that in order to maintain good mental health in the job that we do, we need complete autonomy over our schedules and number of clients we are seeing.

 

We need to be able to arrange time off when we need it, and to work our hours around our lives and to fit in the self-care exercises that we are always advising our clients to do!
